Filled weights for the 33", 39", and 44" sizes assume 80% fill of saturated potting soil at 85 lb/ft³ — standard load-planning assumption for commercial installations. Actual weights vary with media density, moisture, root ball, and headspace.
Ships in 1–2 weeks for any of our 40 standard finishes and custom color matches. Spray-out samples and custom shapes run longer; details are in the Design Guidance tab.
Prices shown are standard retail. No trade account required. They include any of our 20 standard colors in Low Gloss or High Gloss (40 finish options). Custom color matching is available with a small per-color fee that covers the full matching process, including physical spray-out samples for approval before production. The fee covers the color in both gloss levels. Pre-drilled drainage holes are free if you need them.
Materials & Construction
- Material: molded commercial-grade fiberglass with a reinforced base. The 44" Wannsee weighs 48.5 lb empty; an equivalent concrete planter at the same scale runs several hundred pounds, so two people can move and place a Wannsee without equipment.
- Finish: multi-coat automotive-grade paint, hand-applied and clear-coated. UV-stable, frost-resistant, and rated for desert sun, coastal salt air, and freeze-thaw climates.
- Color range: 20 standard colors, each available in Low Gloss or High Gloss for 40 total finish options. Custom color matching to any Pantone or RAL code is available for a small per-color fee, covering both gloss levels. Works equally well for hotel brand standards, architectural specs, and matching residential trim. For brand colors held in other systems, convert to the nearest Pantone or RAL equivalent for the most accurate result.
- Construction: seamless one-piece round body. No seams or joints to fail, crack, or leak.
- Origin: a Jay Scotts silhouette, US-finished by Pots Planters & More. We stock the base inventory in our facility and finish each order to your color specification.
- Warranty: 3-year limited warranty against material and finish defects. Full warranty terms.
Project Planning Notes
- Tree and palm sizing: tree-capable sizing starts at 33". As a rule of thumb, the 33" works for small-to-medium specimen trees and parlor or kentia palms; the 39" suits larger specimen trees, palms, and most commercial-scale plantings; the 44" is the strongest fit when the design calls for an extra large round planter for trees or full palms in commercial entries and lobbies. Match planter diameter to root ball plus 4–6" on each side for healthy long-term growth.
- Filled weight (load planning): see the Filled (est.) column in the size table above. Estimates assume 80% fill of saturated potting soil at 85 lb/ft³; the largest 44" lands near 2,080 lb filled. For rooftop terraces, elevated decks, balconies, and interior office floors, confirm load capacity with your structural engineer or building manager before placement.
- Root ball planning: match planting opening to root ball plus space for backfill and irrigation. The 29", 35", and 40" openings on the three tree-capable sizes (33", 39", 44") accommodate most nursery-grown specimen trees and larger palms. Lighten the load by adding a layer of structural filler at the bottom of taller sizes before adding soil.
- Drainage decision: indoor use is typically “no drainage” with a saucer or basin under the root ball. Outdoor use should be “pre-drilled” to prevent water from pooling, freezing, or causing root rot. Both options are free; pick at order.
- Placement and access: the 39" and 44" sizes are wide. Confirm doorway, corridor, and elevator clearance to the install location before delivery, especially for hotel and rooftop projects.
- Round-form design uses: in pairs at an entry, the round form softens hard architecture and frames a doorway. In a single placement, it anchors a corner, lobby focal point, or rooftop sightline. In groups of three at varied sizes, it builds a graduated visual rhythm in lobbies, courtyards, and entry sequences.
- Custom color workflow: send us your Pantone or RAL code. We mix the match and produce physical spray-out samples for your approval. Once approved, production begins. Add roughly one week to standard lead time for the spray-out and approval cycle. A small per-color fee applies and covers all spray-outs needed to lock the match — the fee covers both Low Gloss and High Gloss versions of that color. If your brand color lives in another system, convert to the nearest Pantone or RAL equivalent before submitting; cross-system conversions from house-paint references are typically only 80% accurate and add significant time to the approval cycle.
- Lead time caveats: standard finishes and custom color match ship in 1–2 weeks. Custom shape or size orders run 10–12 weeks. Out-of-stock base inventory (rare) runs 8–12 weeks. We confirm exact dates in writing before you commit.
For Designers & Project Teams
The Wannsee is in regular rotation for hospitality, restaurant, hotel entry, office lobby, and luxury residential projects across the country. Because we finish every order in our US facility, lead times stay short and color flexibility stays open.
- US-stocked base, finished to your color order. 1–2 weeks for any standard finish or custom color match. No waiting on container shipments or overseas production cycles.
- Color matching for branded environments. Match a hotel brand standard, restaurant interior palette, or architectural specification using any Pantone or RAL code. A small per-color fee covers the match and spray-out approvals.
- Trade pricing for designers, architects, landscape professionals, and hospitality procurement teams across our full collection. Apply for a trade account.
- Freight delivery options: FedEx Freight Direct curbside (with liftgate and appointment) on $500+ orders, White Glove placement available, and orders over $3,500 include curbside shipping & handling at no additional cost. Full rate schedule is in the Shipping & Delivery tab.
- Returns: 30 days from delivery on standard-color items in original condition. Custom color match orders are made to your specification and aren’t returnable. We confirm this in writing at time of quote so there are no surprises at delivery.
- Dedicated support: a project team from initial quote through delivery, not a contact form queue.
Trade Buyers Usually Ask
Is the Wannsee large enough for trees or palms?
Yes — tree-capable sizes start at 33". The 33" carries small-to-medium specimen trees and parlor or kentia palms; the 39" carries larger specimen trees, palms, and most commercial-scale plantings; the 44" is the strongest fit for mature specimen trees and full palms, including larger fiddle-leaf, olive, and citrus. Match planter diameter to root ball plus 4–6" on each side, and use the planting-opening figures in the size table above to confirm fit. For full palms or the largest tree applications, the 44" size with its 40" planting opening is the typical choice.
Which Wannsee size should I choose?
Match the size to your plant and setting. The 15", 22", and 27" are accent sizes — tabletop pieces, reception accents, and small entry decor. Tree-capable sizing starts at 33". The 33" carries small-to-medium specimen trees, parlor or kentia palms, and most fiddle-leaf or rubber trees. The 39" handles larger specimen trees, palms, and most commercial-scale plantings — including olive and citrus. The 44" anchors mature specimen trees and full palms for hotel entries, rooftop terraces, and lobby focal points. See the Sizes & Pricing table above for full dimensions, planting openings, and capacity.
How heavy is the Wannsee when planted?
Empty weights run from 28.7 lb on the 33" up to 48.5 lb on the 44"; the 15", 22", and 27" sizes are lighter (figures pending). Filled with saturated soil at 80% fill, the 33" lands near 870 lb, the 39" near 1,425 lb, and the 44" near 2,080 lb. For rooftop terraces, elevated decks, balconies, and interior office floors, confirm load capacity with your structural engineer or building manager before placement.
Is the Wannsee suitable for rooftops or elevated decks?
Yes. The Wannsee is built from commercial-grade fiberglass with an automotive-grade UV-stable, frost-resistant finish, and is in active service across hotel rooftops, terraces, podium decks, and elevated patios. For rooftop and elevated installations, confirm structural load capacity with your engineer — filled weights for the 39" and 44" sizes run 1,425 lb to 2,080 lb. For all outdoor use, choose pre-drilled drainage to prevent water from pooling and freezing.
Should I choose drainage holes or no drainage holes?
Indoor placements are typically “no drainage” paired with a saucer or basin under the root ball. Outdoor placements should always be “pre-drilled” to prevent root rot, water buildup, and freeze damage — especially important in regions subject to freezing temperatures. Both options are free and selected at order.
Can the Wannsee be used outdoors year-round?
Yes. The Wannsee is built from commercial-grade fiberglass with an automotive-grade UV-stable, frost-resistant finish. Wannsees are installed across desert, coastal, and freeze-thaw climates and are backed by our 3-year limited warranty. For outdoor use, choose the pre-drilled drainage option to prevent water from pooling and freezing in the base.
Can I order the Wannsee in a custom color?
Yes. We match any Pantone or RAL code — the industry-standard reference systems for accurate, repeatable color matching on fiberglass. The workflow includes physical spray-out samples for your approval before production starts. A small per-color fee applies and covers the match, all spray-outs needed to confirm, and your choice of Low Gloss or High Gloss for that color. If your brand color lives in Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, or another paint system, convert to the nearest Pantone or RAL equivalent before submitting — cross-system conversions are typically only 80% accurate.
Colors may render differently on screen than in person. For final color decisions, request a physical sample.

What to expect with FedEx Freight Direct
Your large planter ships on a pallet via FedEx Freight Direct, a noticeable step up from generic LTL freight:
Want White Glove Delivery? Add it to your order at checkout for two-person delivery, placement in the room of your choice, and optional packaging removal. Available on orders $500+ in approximately 90% of the US — we'll confirm availability for your zip code.
Living in a condo, apartment, or high-rise? White Glove Delivery requires an available elevator (preferably a freight or service elevator) at the time of delivery. The FedEx team cannot carry planters up stairs. If your building requires elevator reservations, certificates of insurance, or specific delivery hours, please arrange these in advance. If elevator access is unavailable when FedEx arrives, the planter may be delivered to the building lobby or rescheduled at additional cost.
Inspect before signing. Open the pallet and check each planter at delivery. Note any visible damage on the FedEx delivery receipt before signing — this is the cleanest path to a fast resolution.
Smaller items — FedEx Ground
Some smaller planters and accessories under 150 lbs ship via FedEx Ground (commercial addresses) or FedEx Home Delivery (residential, including weekends). Standard FedEx tracking, no appointment required, no signature unless you request one. Typical transit: 1–5 business days. Your shipping confirmation email will indicate which carrier is handling your order.
If something arrives damaged
Fiberglass is durable, but freight happens. If you see damage at delivery:
We'll repair, replace, or credit at our discretion under our 3-year warranty. Concealed damage discovered after unpacking must be reported within 5 business days of delivery.
High-rise, condo, and apartment delivery
We deliver to multi-unit buildings every day, but a few things need to be in place for delivery to succeed:
Not sure whether your building can accommodate White Glove Delivery? Contact us before ordering — we'll help you choose the right service level.
Trade & job-site delivery
For landscape architects, designers, and commercial buyers:
Outside the continental US (AK, HI, Canada, international)
Orders to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, or international destinations can't be placed on this site. We work with freight forwarders for these regions — email sales@potsplantersandmore.com with your destination and we'll arrange a quote. FedEx Freight Direct also covers Canada, so cross-border quotes are usually quick.
Design Guidance
The Wannsee’s round form softens hard architecture and reads as a sculptural object rather than a strictly utilitarian planter. In pairs it formalizes an entry. In a single large placement it anchors a corner, lobby focal point, or rooftop sightline. In stepped trios it builds depth and rhythm. What follows is a guide to placement, sizing, finish selection, and planting.
Where the Wannsee works
Indoor
- Hotel lobbies and reception areas, flanking entries or anchoring sightlines.
- Hospitality interiors — restaurant entries, hotel lounges, member clubs.
- Corporate floors and atriums as soft architecture between zones.
- Loft, gallery, and showroom spaces with high ceilings and full-height plantings.
Outdoor
- Hotel and commercial entries, plaza edges, and storefront frontage — the larger sizes function as a large round outdoor planter at architectural scale.
- Rooftop terraces, courtyards, and podium decks.
- Restaurant patios and hospitality outdoor seating.
- Residential entries, pool surrounds, and high-end garden focal points.
Choosing the right size
| Setting | Recommended size(s) | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Tabletop or small entry accent | 15" × 13" (accent) | Reads as a sculpted accent without crowding a surface. |
| Reception desk or small foyer | 22" × 19" (accent) | Round form softens hard architecture; manageable empty weight. |
| Residential entry or patio accent | 27" × 24" (accent size) | Holds a medium plant at human scale; below tree-capable sizing. |
| Hotel entry, restaurant front, mid-size lobby | 33" × 29" | Carries small-to-medium specimen trees and parlor or kentia palms; reads at distance. |
| Commercial lobby, corporate atrium, larger entry | 39" × 34" | Handles larger specimen trees, palms, and most commercial-scale plantings — including fiddle-leaf, olive, and citrus. |
| Rooftop or hotel-entry statement | 44" × 39" | Anchors mature specimen trees and full palms; reads against open sky and tall architecture. |
Finish & color strategy
- Low Gloss: reads as a soft satin, sits quietly in residential and hospitality interiors, and is forgiving in high-traffic spots where scuffs may show.
- High Gloss: reflective and architectural, pops against modern facades, stone, and glass — ideal for branded retail, hospitality entries, and rooftop visibility.
- Custom color match: Pantone or RAL only. Brand standards in Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams are converted to the closest Pantone or RAL on our end (direct paint-brand matching tops out around 80% accuracy).
Mixing finishes is a deliberate move that reads as designed — a matte black beside a high-gloss white in a stepped trio, for example.
Planting & specifying
- Drainage: pick “pre-drilled” for outdoor; pick “no drainage” indoors and use a saucer or liner.
- Soil & weight: filled weights for the 33", 39", and 44" sizes run 870 lb, 1,425 lb, and 2,080 lb (80% fill, saturated potting soil at 85 lb/ft³). Coordinate placement and any rooftop, deck, or balcony load review before delivery.
- Plant pairings: specimen trees (fiddle-leaf, olive, citrus, rubber), full palms (kentia, parlor, areca), large architectural agaves, and mature shrubs. Underplant with trailing philodendron, pothos, or dichondra to soften the rim.
- Lighting: uplighting at the base reads the round form at night and emphasizes the canopy of taller specimens.
Specifying & documentation
- Spec sheet PDF with dimensions, weights, and finish options.
- Expanded CAD and BIM files are in development. Email the team for current availability.
- Architects, designers, and procurement teams: apply for trade pricing.
Project support
For specified projects, we coordinate lead times to your install schedule, ship blind on request, provide a Certificate of Insurance, and quote White Glove placement when curbside isn’t enough. Standard finishes and custom color matches ship in 1–2 weeks; spray-out samples add about a week; custom shapes or sizes run 10–12 weeks.
- Standard: 1–2 weeks for any of our 40 standard finishes (20 colors × Low Gloss / High Gloss).
- Custom color match: 1–2 weeks; Pantone or RAL only.
- Spray-out sample before production: add about 1 week.
- Custom shape or size: 10–12 weeks for fully custom planters built to spec.
- Out-of-stock base: 8–12 weeks. Rare.
Built to last: commercial-grade fiberglass with a UV-stable, frost-resistant automotive-grade finish. Backed by our 3-year limited warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Wannsee is available in six sizes (Diameter × Height): 15" × 13", 22" × 19", 27" × 24", 33" × 29", 39" × 34", and 44" × 39". Planting openings range from 11" diameter on the smallest up to 40" diameter on the largest, with soil capacities reaching 220.6 gallons on the 44" model.
The three largest sizes are built for specimen trees. The 33" × 29" model holds 92.2 gallons, the 39" × 34" holds 151 gallons, and the 44" × 39" holds 220.6 gallons, all sufficient root volume for ornamental trees, large palms, and multi-stem specimens used in landscape and commercial installations.
The 33" × 29" weighs 28.7 lbs, the 39" × 34" weighs 39.7 lbs, and the 44" × 39" weighs 48.5 lbs. Those are light figures for planters at that scale. A comparably sized concrete or stone planter would create structural concerns on rooftop terraces, lobby floors, and elevated decks where the Wannsee is commonly specified.
Yes. The fiberglass construction keeps weights under 50 lbs even on the 44" model, the broad base keeps it stable, and the large soil capacities support full specimen plantings. It's a common spec for rooftop terraces, hotel lobbies, and commercial entryways.
Yes. All planters are crafted from commercial-grade fiberglass and finished with automotive-grade paint that resists UV fading, freeze-thaw cycles, wind, and rain. When the drainage holes are open or properly plugged before freezing temperatures, the planter will not crack or warp over winter. No sealers or coatings are needed.
You choose at checkout. Select "Yes Drainage Holes" for outdoor use, holes are pre-drilled and ready to plant. Select "No Drainage Holes" for indoor installations, and use a removable liner or saucer to protect floors. Drainage holes cannot be added after purchase, so choose carefully.
