What to expect with FedEx Freight Direct

Your large planter ships on a pallet via FedEx Freight Direct, a noticeable step up from generic LTL freight:

    • 2-hour delivery windows — morning or evening, your choice
    • Text and email notifications when your shipment is scheduled, the day of delivery, and 30 minutes before the truck arrives
    • Curbside Delivery — Curbside, with a liftgate, along with an appointment (included on every retail order)
    • Real-time tracking via fedex.com or the FedEx app
    • Signature required at delivery — please have someone 18+ available

Want White Glove Delivery? Add it to your order at checkout for two-person delivery, placement in the room of your choice, and optional packaging removal. Available on orders $500+ in approximately 90% of the US — we'll confirm availability for your zip code.

Living in a condo, apartment, or high-rise? White Glove Delivery requires an available elevator (preferably a freight or service elevator) at the time of delivery. The FedEx team cannot carry planters up stairs. If your building requires elevator reservations, certificates of insurance, or specific delivery hours, please arrange these in advance. If elevator access is unavailable when FedEx arrives, the planter may be delivered to the building lobby or rescheduled at additional cost.

Inspect before signing. Open the pallet and check each planter at delivery. Note any visible damage on the FedEx delivery receipt before signing — this is the cleanest path to a fast resolution.

    Smaller items — FedEx Ground

Some smaller planters and accessories under 150 lbs ship via FedEx Ground (commercial addresses) or FedEx Home Delivery (residential, including weekends). Standard FedEx tracking, no appointment required, no signature unless you request one. Typical transit: 1–5 business days. Your shipping confirmation email will indicate which carrier is handling your order.

    If something arrives damaged

Fiberglass is durable, but freight happens. If you see damage at delivery:

    1. Note it on the FedEx delivery receipt before signing — the driver will wait while you inspect.
    2. Photograph the damage — pallet, packaging, and planter.
    3. Email sales@potsplantersandmore.com within 48 hours with photos and your order number.

We'll repair, replace, or credit at our discretion under our 3-year warranty. Concealed damage discovered after unpacking must be reported within 5 business days of delivery.

    High-rise, condo, and apartment delivery

We deliver to multi-unit buildings every day, but a few things need to be in place for delivery to succeed:

    • Reserve your building's freight or service elevator for your delivery window. Most buildings require 24–72 hours' notice and may restrict deliveries to weekday business hours.
    • Confirm the elevator can fit the planter — box is approximately 2" bigger than the planter dimensions. Measure your elevator and unit doorway before ordering.
    • Certificate of Insurance (COI) — many buildings require one before any vendor enters. We can request a COI from FedEx — email sales@potsplantersandmore.com at least 5 business days before delivery.
    • If the elevator isn't available when FedEx arrives, the planter may be delivered to the lobby or rescheduled at additional cost.

Not sure whether your building can accommodate White Glove Delivery? Contact us before ordering — we'll help you choose the right service level.

    Trade & job-site delivery

For landscape architects, designers, and commercial buyers:

    • Job-site delivery — provide site contact, hours, and any access restrictions at order
    • Coordinated delivery — we'll schedule finishing your planters to coordinate with your install dates
    • Blind ship — no PPM branding on pallet or packing slip for trade clients managing end-customer relationships
    • Certificate of Insurance (COI) — available on request for sites that require one
    • Inside delivery, white-glove, or installation coordination — available on request, quoted per project

Outside the continental US (AK, HI, Canada, international)

Orders to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, or international destinations can't be placed on this site. We work with freight forwarders for these regions — email sales@potsplantersandmore.com with your destination and we'll arrange a quote. FedEx Freight Direct also covers Canada, so cross-border quotes are usually quick.

The San José Tall Fluted Planter Pot brings together timeless design and modern craft. Inspired by the elegance of a classic vase, it’s updated with vertical fluting that adds depth and interest.

Made from strong fiberglass, it’s durable and surprisingly light weight, so it’s easy to move around. Each planter is hand-painted, then finished with UV protection to keep the color crisp indoors or outdoors.

Orders ship directly from the U.S. in about three weeks, and every piece comes backed with a three-year warranty.

This planter brings good looks to the table, withstands sun, rain, and daily wear while offering style that works in homes, offices, and outdoor spaces alike.

Size & Scale: What Fits Where?

The San José planter comes in two sizes, each suited to different spaces:

  • 16″ × 30″ — The smaller size is ideal for compact spots like a foyer, a sunroom corner, or placed beside a sofa. It lifts the eye without taking over the room.
  • 22″ × 40″ — This large fluted planter makes a bold impression outdoors. It stands tall on patios and terraces, or works beautifully as a pair at the front door for symmetry.

Each size plays its part. The smaller scale blends easily into tight areas, while the larger version commands attention in open layouts.

Placement Ideas

Indoors

  • Set the planter in a hallway niche to highlight the architecture.
  • Use it beside a console table for balance and extra height.
  • Place it in office lobbies or reception spaces to direct the eye upward.

Outdoors

  • Flank the front door with two large fluted planters for a stately entrance.
  • Arrange along garden walkways to introduce rhythm and vertical greenery.
  • Anchor a patio or deck by using the taller size as a strong focal point.

Styling Tip: Use the smaller size for porches, steps, or narrow terraces, and save the taller size for expansive areas like hotel entries, wide patios, or open courtyards.

Color & Finish Pairings

The San José planter comes in both low-gloss and high-gloss finishes, and you’ve got loads of color options to play with. How you style it really depends on the look you’re going for.

Here's how each finish works in different spaces:

  • Black Fluted Planter: Black always makes a statement. It’s bold, modern, and instantly sharp. Indoors, it stands out against light walls or wood floors. Outdoors, it pops against stone or greenery. Pair it with deep green plants or rich jewel-toned leaves to keep the look strong and sculptural.
  • White Fluted Planter: White is clean, fresh, and easy to style. It works especially well in coastal homes, bright patios, or minimal spaces. If you’ve got darker walls or shady corners, this one brightens things up and makes colorful plants stand out even more.
  • Neutral & Gray Tones: Colors like taupe, charcoal, and soft concrete are subtle and flexible. These finishes will make your plants the main event. They’re perfect for industrial-style homes, lofts, or modern city balconies where you want a cool, understated vibe.
  • Bold or Custom Colors: If you want something playful or different, go for red, teal, metallic, or even a custom color that fits your space. A single bold planter in a simple layout adds instant personality. Or mix and match. Pairing a tall black fluted planter with a white one side-by-side looks super crisp and modern.

Plant Pairings

The San José planter’s tall and deep build supports a wide range of plant choices:

  • Upright choices: Snake plants, dracaenas, and tall grasses echo the vertical ridges.
  • Palms & ornamental grasses: The 22″ × 40″ size has the volume for small palms or full ornamental grasses outdoors.
  • Trailing plants: Ivy, string-of-pearls, and philodendron soften the clean lines by spilling naturally over the rim.
  • Flowering shrubs: Hydrangeas, hibiscus, or gardenias provide seasonal bursts of color.
  • Mixed layouts: Combine an upright centerpiece with cascading vines for layered interest.
  • Seasonal swaps: Bright annuals in summer, mums in autumn, evergreens in winter.

With its generous depth, roots have space to spread, so everything from bold shrubs to delicate trailing greens can thrive.

Material & Practical Care

Let’s be honest, when choosing a planter, you want something that looks good and doesn’t give you a headache later. That’s why fiberglass, also called GRP (short for Glass Reinforced Plastic), has become such a favorite. It’s one of those materials that manages to tick all the right boxes without trying too hard.

It’s light, which makes moving it around less of a hassle, but don’t let the weight fool you. Fiberglass planters are solid. They can take a few knocks, some bad weather, and whatever the seasons throw at them.

You can leave them out all year and not worry about heat waves, freezing nights, or even harsh sun ruining the finish. It doesn’t rust or rot, either, so you’re good on that front, too.

Now, for the cleaning bit; don’t overthink it. Most of the time, a soft cloth and a bit of water will do the job. But if you’re dealing with something a little stickier, mild soap and a sponge will sort it. Just avoid anything abrasive like steel wool or harsh chemicals since they’ll scuff up the surface, and that’s no fun.

Some folks go the extra mile and add a bit of wax every few months. While it’s totally optional, it gives the finish a bit more shine and adds a light barrier against the elements.

Why Choose the San José Tall Fluted Planter Pot?

The San José Tall Fluted Planter Pot brings classic vase-inspired form into today’s settings. Indoors, it adds vertical structure and balance. Outdoors, it frames entryways, anchors patios, and gives definition to wide-open areas.

Available in two sizes, a full palette of colors, and finished with UV protection, it adapts to almost any design scheme. It’s tough enough for commercial spaces yet refined enough for homes.

Backed by a three-year warranty and quick U.S. shipping, it’s a dependable choice that is extremely stylish.

Frequently Asked Questions

The San Jose is offered in two sizes: 16" Dia × 30" H (12.5" planting opening, 22.4 gallon capacity) and 22" Dia × 40" H (18" planting opening, 56.5 gallon capacity). Both sizes are optimized for vertical impact, with the 40" model well suited for tall-ceilinged lobbies and grand entrances.

The 16" × 30" weighs 12.9 lbs and the 22" × 40" weighs 31 lbs. The low weight relative to the 40" height means the San Jose can be safely placed on lobby floors, terraces, and rooftop decks without concern for structural load.

The cylindrical cavity and 40" height of the larger model suit tall, upright plants such as snake plants, ornamental grasses, small topiaries, and columnar indoor trees. The 22.4-gallon capacity of the smaller model supports medium-growing ornamentals and dwarf shrubs for lower-ceiling lobbies or patio vignettes.

The vertical fluting creates a play of light and shadow across the surface that amplifies the height of the planter and draws the eye upward, an effect that pairs naturally with the double-height ceilings common in hotel lobbies, civic buildings, and luxury retail spaces. Placed as flanking pairs at a main entrance, the San Jose adds architectural detail without requiring additional décor.

Yes. All planters are crafted from commercial-grade fiberglass and finished with automotive-grade paint that resists UV fading, freeze-thaw cycles, wind, and rain. When the drainage holes are open or properly plugged before freezing temperatures, the planter will not crack or warp over winter. No sealers or coatings are needed.

You choose at checkout. Select "Yes Drainage Holes" for outdoor use, holes are pre-drilled and ready to plant. Select "No Drainage Holes" for indoor installations, and use a removable liner or saucer to protect floors. Drainage holes cannot be added after purchase, so choose carefully.
