Meet 3 of our Planters and the Places that Inspired Them
Posted by Jason Wyrwicz on Jul 15th 2022
If you’ve browsed our catalog at least once or twice, you’ll have noticed that almost all of our planters and pots have one thing in common.
(And if you haven’t browsed our catalog yet, hello; what are you waiting for?!)
It’s obviously not the shape, nor is it the size—we have an enormous variety of both of those characteristics within our selection. And it’s not the color, because each of our planters is personalizable with over 90 color options.
While the quality guarantee for service and materials and the unbeatable pricing is the same for all of our planters, it’s not the answer that we were looking for, either.
Here at Pots Planters & More, we’re dedicated to not only bringing you quality and variety through our products, but a cosmopolitan flair as well. No matter where you are in your home, you can close your eyes and feel like you’re jet setting across the globe.
It’s an unmistakable feeling of freedom—and it’s what we strive to give each of our creations.
We’re taking an opportunity today to tell you a little bit about three of the inspirations behind our designs. Each name we’ve chosen represents a place that’s just as unique and captivating as the design it inspired, and we’re proud to represent each vibrant culture through our products.
We’ll even take it a step further and give you recommendations for styling each planter as if it were picked off the streets of its location-inspiration and dropped right into your home.
So, buckle up! Let’s take a trip with our planters around the globe, shall we?
Lisbon (Portugal)
and the Lisbon Round Plant Pot
It’s easy to see why Lisbon is the absolute go-to European destination right now. With its old-world-meets-modern-innovation feel, visitors get the best of both worlds as they explore one of Europe’s oldest international port cities.
There’s no shortage of places to explore and things to see as you wind down the cobblestone streets, but there’s no need to rush—after all, the Lisbon lifestyle is easy and breezy.
And that’s what we love about our Lisbon Round Plant Pot.
It’s a form that’s elegant but unpretentious; it fits in both a monochrome color scheme and accents a busier decorative setup. We love the elongated curve of the plant pot that is pleasing to the eye without being a distraction.
If you’ve ever been to Lisbon, you’ll know that the architecture is heavily influenced by the azulejos, the bright blue and yellow painted tiles that have adorned the city’s houses for centuries, and the undulating terracotta tile roofs. That’s why we’d recommend The Lisbon in Cobalt Blue, Lemonade, or Terracotta.
Fun fact: A Lisbon native is called an alfacinha, which means “little lettuce”! But if you want to be truly hip with the culture, you’ll use your Lisbon planter to hold bush basil (Ocimum minimum). It’s traded among residents on Saint Anthony of Padua Day each June.
Saint Tropez (France)
and the Saint Tropez Tall Vase Planter Pot
Saint Tropez is the epitome of classic vintage style-meets-modern resort chic. The collection of marinas and beach clubs, stylish boutiques and gorgeous esplanades along the French Riviera is constantly evolving—and constantly luxurious.
While money and tastes dictate some of Saint Tropez’s elements, there’s always a feeling of stepping back in time, to the days where the beautiful, rich, and famous would grace its golden sands.
In the same way that The Lisbon is unassuming, The Saint Tropez Tall Vase Planter Pot loves to stand out.
The Saint Tropez is a statement piece for sure—more or less front-and-center depending on your decorating preferences—and exquisite in its elongated form.
Because of the classic vintage style associated with the main villa of Saint Tropez, we’d suggest going either retro-glam, with a Pink Mimosa or Beige. That being said, you can’t go wrong with the timeless classics, either—an Antique White, or an Infinity Black.
A palm tree is an iconic symbol of the luxe tropicality that is Saint Tropez. Your Saint Tropez planter pot will look très chic holding a palm, but if you’re looking for a more fragrant option, the region is also well-known for its lush jasmine plants.
Santiago (Chile)
and the Santiago Tall Square Planter Box
You might expect to find a quaint village nestled within the Andes mountains, but Santiago is anything but quaint. Sure, it has all of the explosive, joyful culture that’s characteristic of many South American countries, but that’s where the comparison ends.
Santiago is just as full of skyscrapers and modern luxury as many of the European capitals. It’s a fascinating mix of architectural styles and a time machine for the development of the region at large. But beyond that, the streets are truly alive with both tradition and self-expression.
And the best part of all? Santiago is a really green city. You can’t turn a corner without running into leafy landscapes, both natural and manmade. It’s our kind of place!
To honor such a unique and vibrant city, we’ve tried to capture that perfect mixture of old and new in our Santiago Tall Square Planter Box.
The Santiago is not an example of “reinventing the wheel”—it’s a rectangle, after all—but it’s a beautifully crafted piece with a modern edge. The simple shape and structure represent the folk art that can be found throughout the cities and the contemporary architecture that runs throughout as well.
Santiago is not at all shy about its love for colors, so if you’re feeling adventurous as well, opt for Horizon Blue, Orchid, or Clementine. But if you’re going for a more subtle look, The Santiago looks fantastic in Charcoal, too.
As we mentioned, Santiago’s flora and fauna dominate even the cityscapes! You’ll find thousands of exotic species native to the area. For a Chilean piece that will wow all of your guests, consider complementing your Santiago with a Chilean myrtle (Luma apiculata) or a striking fuinque shrub (Lumatia ferruginea).
We hope you’ve had as much on this adventure around the world of our planters as we have!
And remember: If you’d like any more information on any of our unique designs, information on placing an order, or simply some suggestions for styling the planters you’ve purchased, feel free to give us a call. We’re always happy to help.
